I love Slot Canyons. At every point I always want to linger and soak in that specific view, but as I sit there it changes before my eyes. I once sat in a single chamber for over an hour and it seemed different every minute or so. The angle of the sun is always changing, but outside the canyon we are unaware of these moment to moment changes. The Canyons are so narrow and deep that every change in the angle of the sun shows up distinctly, creating new images before our eyes.
I love how the rock glows in the center of this image, almost as though the rock is a flowing liquid-or as though the light is coming out of the rock. My eye goes there first. Then as my eye moves out from that glowing center I become fascinated by the shades of light moving to dark. I like to sit and look at this image in our living room. It compels me to be still and it both calms me and energizes me. Not bad for a piece of art on the wall. It is what I love about art--it moves our spirits. This image looks fabulous in any media you choose, canvas, fine art paper, metal, or photographic acrylic. Each conveys a slightly different mood with the paper in a great frame being the most reserved but with some attitude, the canvas being lively but sophisticated, and the metal or acrylic being energetic and excting--but still calming. Choose your mood.
